Daz,

I'm not a computer guru by a LONG shot.....but I've had no problems out of Windows ME.

Well let me clarify that a bit. I had loads of problems with I tried the ME "upgrade" from '98SE. I got a new HP machine that came with ME on it and haven't had any problems. Everything runs fine.

:-lol I guess there HAS to be an exception to every rule.......

When I upgraded from Win98SE to WinME I only got error warnings, freezes and alot of other difficulties.

Since I went back to Win98SE no problems anymore.

I think if your operating system is genuine WinME there shouldn´t be any problems, I think the problems only come up with an upgrade

Best regards and Happy Landings!

I would venture to say that you did a lot of flight time wasting by doing the reformats and trying Win98 over WinME. The basic engines for both are the same. WinME had some updates over Win98 but not any significant improvement. When you download improvements, what do you see: Win9X/ME, Win2000, WinXP, WinNT.

I would say you probably forgot to install the controller chips software, updated controller chips software, updated sound and graphics adapter software.

Many people are using Win98, WinME, Win2000, and WinXP successfully with FS2002 to make a case over which may be best. It may be related more to the actual hardware you have and its capabilities than to which OS you are using.

When I used to run WIN ME, I probably averaged 2 - 3 crashes everyday at a minimum. WIN ME came stock w/my Compaq. Almost all the crashes involved FS2002. I finally got disgusted and upgraded to Win XP Home. Not ONE crash, let me repeat, not ONE crash SINCE upgrading over a month ago while playing FS2002. 'course your mileage may vary significantly :P

I have 'genuine' WinME at work and have experienced similar error messages and freezes. My Win 98SE setup at home has not caused me any problems.

The fact that Microsoft discontinued Win ME because of it's problems says it all.....
