Nick's excellent guide for fsx set-up includes the following for runway lights:

RUNWAY_LIGHTS_SURFACE_SCALAR=1.2 //adjust values to suit your scale
RUNWAY_LIGHTS_VASI_SCALAR=1.2
RUNWAY_LIGHTS_APPROACH_SCALAR=1.2
RUNWAY_LIGHTS_STROBE_SCALAR=1.0

However, I can't find these entries in fsx.cfg - am I just missing them somewhere, or do they have to be added in...or are they in a different file?

Help please,

Don

No they are not in the standard CFG. You have to add them.

They go in the display section.

Correct, you have to add them in to the [Display] section.

On my system, these settings don't work. Considering all the Google and forum searches I've made don't mention anything from anyone about them not working, it would appear that I am in a rare and unique situation. Can anybody suggest a possible reason why these settings wouldn't work? Despite me changing the values from anywhere between 0.7 to 1.9, saving the FSX.cfg file, and then restarting FSX each time, there was absolutely no change to the size etc of the runway or taxi lights for me at all. I am using FSX with Acceleration on Windows7-64 and only one add-on (Orbx's FTX Australia).

Hi Freddy

Is it as simple as - you are not amending the correct fsx.cfg file?

The file to amend is in Users\Freddy\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

Sorry if this is too obvious.

Nah, it isn't too obvious. All possible suggestions or solutions are welcomed. Sadly though, it aint that ... I am editing the correct FSX.cfg file found in the exact same folder path that you quoted ...

C:\Users\freddy\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX

:)

(I am suspecting my issue may have something to do with Orbx's Lights Tweaker utility that comes with the Orbx FTX scenery. Although the utility is for street lights and such, and nothing to do with runway and taxiway lights etc, I cannot help but wonder if it is somehow the cause. Maybe someone with the Orbx software can refute this theory?)

What if I use REX2? It also changes lights.
