I have recenlty downloaded the repaint kits for the A340 -200s and -300s made by Project Opensky.

So far, their website has been unable to successfully register me to use their forums; so I can't post this issue there. I found, however, then next best place. :)

When I downloaded the repaint kits for these aircraft, I could tell instantly that I may have problems with them: They are all PSD files.

I don't know what a PSD is nor do I have any idea how to paint one; I have tried and the aircraft continues to show up as a black model; nothing else.

I have searched avsim, flightsim, youtube, and POSKY themselves to find something about PSDs that would be of remote use. I found nothing. Tutorials do not explain it either.

I therefore am asking, after actually looking for an answer on my own first and finding nothing, that someone please inform me what to do with these things.

1) WHAT IS A PSD?!
2) How would I paint one and save it to get it to show up in FSX?
3) Why are they being used instead of typical repaint files?
4) Any other interesting/useful/important things I should know about PSD files?

INFO: MY PROGRAMS:
-FSX Standard with SP1
-Paint.NET
-DXTbmp

I greatly appreciate any and all help that can be provided; like I said, I've been waiting for months and months to get a confirmation email from POSKY and I am tired of not being able to use their forums to deal with my problems related to their products.

I am more than happy to answer any questions you may have that would help you answer mine; please let me know.

Thanks for your help!!!

Hello,

PSD files i believe are Adobe Photoshop files. As i am not a painter i don't know anyway to rectify this. Maybe is their anyway you can open it with another program.

Like Shaun says, PSD format files are indeed files associated with Adobe Photoshop.

http://psd.extensionfile.net/

These files contain layers, enabling the painter to create paints without having to worry about overpainting the finer details of the paintkit, ie Windows, Doors and Rivet Detail, to mention a few.

If you are using Paint.NET you will need a plugin to enable you to open the PSD files.
