Returning to FSX after some considerable time and a fresh install of windows 7.

I am looking for some of the best general aviation light aircraft.
The only free Piper Tomahawk i can find (Project Tomahawk) has a texture glitch where in 3d cockpit mode theere is a big milky white square in the main view covering most of the screen. Is there a way round this?

I used to have a great little cropsprayer, some eastern european plane (??) that felt very hands-on, love to find it again but not sure what to look for. It was very basic inside but just felt great with my joystick. ring any bells with anyone?

What other small GA planes are available that are highly rated for FSX?
Cheers!

Here's a screenshot of the texture issue in 3d cockpit - same with the
Alcala 'Chimchul' Tomahawk model :(

Unfortunately the anomolies (Hope that's spelled right) you mentioned is because of the textures not being compatible.

You may want to try this:

Download dxt.bmp

Save the textures as a .dds file.

To create one, you have to first of all, flip the image and alpha and save as .dds, replacing the original.

Don't forget to back up your files! :)

Just search on google for dxt.bmp and you should find it right away. It's a great utility for updating textures.

Do note however - some aircraft even with trying to update textures that way do not work still even after doing so, they've been placed in the model directly in those cases I believe....

For light planes - Just Flight makes a great payware Tomahawk you can download individually, and fully works with FSX and newest Service Packs.

The Iris Payware DA40 is great too - you'll really enjoy flying that one...:)

Thanks for the DA40 recommendation - excellent model, been flying round the French alps for the past hour.

I got dtxbmp but i'm not sure which of the texture files i should be flipping - i thought it was the one with the prop texture on it but it doesn't seem to help.

Basically Al, what I would do, is duplicate your texture folder as a back up, and then just do all textures in that Folder to the dds dxt 5 format.

Glad you like the DA40. It's one of my favorite small planes for FSX from Iris - they did a GREAT job on it.

You can find some of my repaints on it by searching my name in the File Library.

I've taken one of the tomahawk texture folders and processed all the bmp's as directed, flipping image & alpha, resaving as dxt 5 format.
However, this milky white box in 3d cockpit view is not going away. Pity as this model is touted as being fixed for FSX.
Thanks for the help so far, but any other thoughts?
