View Full Version : removing windows?

My next question is, how do I remove the windows so I can make a cargo version?

I found the windows, for example on this B200 they are a greenish tint. I painted over them and made them completely white so they blend in w/ the texture background.

The problem is, when I load up the aircraft in FS it now shows the windows as clear instead of a greenish tint to them.

How do I remove them completely? I want the side of the plane to look like there were never holes made for the windows and the metal panel is a sheet without holes. Is that possible?

Thanks.

There are 2 ways to make windows in FS.

One is to paint them on a solid fuselage. To get rid of them you simply paint over them. Don't forget to paint the alpha and the lightmap. If it's for FSX you might have to paint bumps and specs also.

The second way is to cut actual holes in the 3D model. There is no way to remove those. You might be able to mask them by painting the texture applied to the glass, but I doubt they would completely go away.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
I think my paint kit has the 2nd version. It doesn't seem to matter what color I paint the window, in the "windows texture" they still show up, just as a different color, the color I painted them.

I'm using the Super King Air B200 repaint kit from ISDT.

Looks like your right.

You might try darkening the alpha where that circle is for the window, but I doubt it will ever be anything solid.

You could try contacting the author and see if they can make a windowless model. I would think they just have to change the material and re-compile the model, but I could be wrong. I have never modeled a plane.

Sounds good, I'll try that.

Who knows maybe I'll be haulin' livestock and they will enjoy seeing the scenery fly by :p

Thanks again,
