I am so happy to get away from Vista. I installed 7 last night, and have been tinkering with it all day. I got an increase of around 5 FPS in FSX, but the loading times are fantastic. The terrain loads quickly, the flights load quickly, and the VC is essentially always loaded.
Here's my new desktop. The slideshow on the right are real aircraft pics and the one on the left is FSX shots.

I also flew the Lost in the Triangle mission this morning. Here's some spooky pics from the Bermuda Triangle...
Firey red sunset... Oh, DX10 is turned on in these.

A squad of TBM Avengers that went down here in the 40's(?). My best guess.

Looking back at the poor souls as they turn away... I have more buisness to attend to.

Very interesting Conner
I've had the Windows 7 install disk sitting on my desk for a couple of months now but have been hesitant to install it over Vista since my FS machine is also my business PC and a mess up on that would be disasterous.
On the other hand - we have to get our priorities straight - and who sez work is more important than FS? :D
This post may push me over the edge :D:D

Thanks Matt. Microsoft finally got it right...
Bill- Setup was a piece a' cake. I left everything the way it was, and backed up my docs, pics, and freeware that would be hard to find onto an external HD. I also backed up my Rewards in the AppData folder, and the FSX Files just in case. Then I ran the installer. It took about 3 hours and when I started it up, FSX was still there, iTunes was still there, Google Chrome, FS9, RCT3, etc... Everything was where I left it. It's ridiculously fast too. Browsing is quicker, navigation is instant, and loading times have been more than cut in half.
I'm actually starting to like Microsoft. Stick that disk in there now. Trust me.

OK - thanks for the encouragement Conner - my current external HD is pretty full so as soon as I get another external HD with enough room for my key stuff backup I'm going for it :)

You've just about convinced me to upgrade too - I'm using Vista 64 at the moment and the main reason I'm hesitant to upgrade is because I don't want to have to reinstall everything, but if it's easy as it sounds like (obviously I'll still be backing up just in case things don't go to plan) I may have to make the switch.

The Windows 7 64-bit will install over top of Windows Vista 64 bit...That is one of the few seamless upgrades to Windows 7.
That is another one MS got right as well

Yeah, I thought it was gonna be a hassle but I Googled around a little and got it figured out. Pretty simple.
