I recently joined a new VA in which they only have texturs in FSX for the liveries, however I run FS 2004. There are many others to. Is their any one who can help me figure how to convert FSX texturs to FS 2004 texturs. I am not that technical whith the computer so take it easy on me. Thanks

Have you tried running them? In most cases repaints are in .bmp format which means FS2004 shouldn't have a problem.
However, if they are using .dds textures, which are unique to FSX you need to download DXTBmp - it's free and lets you save in lots of different file formats. I've gotta rush now so I can't find a link, but I'm sure you'll find it if you google it.
Hope this helps
Yes the FSX textures are in DDS format. I converted them to DTX3 bitmap format and put them into my airplane. All I get is a gray airplane, no textures. What might I be doing wrong. Any help we be grateful. Thanks

Sorry - I was in a hurry earlier so I wasn't thinking clearly - although you can convert them it won't work because it is looking for *filename.dds* while it is now called *filename.bmp* - I'm not sure how, or if it is possible to make it work.
Sorry I can't be more help

Try changing it from DTX3 to Extended 32 bit 8-888.:)

This is only possible if you are using the same model as those that use FSX.
And even then it is not guaranteed to work.
For specific help, we need to know what specific models and textures you are using.
As an example, if you are trying to use textures for a Posky 777 on the default 777, it will never work.

I converted to 32 bit 8-888 and it did not work. I am working on getting the model and textures. Thanks

What moddel is it? Is it POSKY? And anyway, FSX textures are not the same as FS2004 textures. Aside from being .dds formats and not .bmp , they are named differently. If it's POSKY then it needs to be something like '757fuse_lt' or something. I can't remember exactly, but they are not the same. I'm a repainter, but all paints I have done have been for FS2004 aircraft, so I don't have any experience with dds textures.

Converting any DXTn texture to 32bit will only increase the size of the file, nothing else. Except increase CPU workload.
It is a waist of time.

Just a couple of notes about FSX .dds textures...I have no idea if this can even be done, I just know something about modeling in both versions ;)
The texture size could be up to 4096 square (2048 is more common). FS9 won't like that.
The .dds textures are 'flipped', and if you do get them to show in FS9 they will be upside down.
