I know i know o&o is the best and one version is broken, but is there a free windows defrag for fsx, whats wrong with the build in win7 defragger?

The built in defrag app is fine for most people and uses, but doesn't help FSX as much as some of the alternatives. With the third party apps, probably the most useful option is the folder/filename sort that orders the files on the drive by name.

I see so the 3rd party allows you to defrag in the order by name, im guessing thats an option, or just the way the program does things by default?

It's one option. All have their own default method of defragging and optimizing a drive. Usually they do something along the lines of placing recent or more frequently used files near the outer edges of the drive, and less frequently used files on the inner tracks. Not all have the file/folder name option though, which is why many like O&O, Ultimate Defrag and MyDefrag.

The mydefrag doesn't show if it does defrag folders by name, maybe this is a case of a default procedure it follows.

EDIT:I have 2 drives one dedicated to FSX should i be just doing my fsx drive defrag by name, or c:\ drive would as well?

On a side note if you dont mind me asking, (since i open to many threads i find) I need your knowledge on mipbias in the cfg and forcing mip maps in nhancer.

1st are they both related?

secondly just curious i added this to my cfg and only level 4 EDIT: MipBias=4 works really well but the only ones that stay are 5 to 7, so its on 6 for now. Also nhancer as per nickn's guide suggests OFF but i was assuming its better to have on trilinear for this.
