The auto pilot for the 737's and the A321 do not work. Is there something I need to do to make them active?

What EXACTLY do you mean???
You can't hold altitude?
You can't maintain your heading?
You can't maintain your speed?
OR..........
You can't make it follow your flight-plan?
Of course, you need to switch it on.

None of the functions work when I activate it. When I dectivate it the warning sounds. What I meant is there a config file thta controls these functions? I have looked at all the files I can find and saw nothing different from the FS9 files.

Have you read the article(s) in the Learning Center? Obviously they DO work, otherwise FS forums everywhere would be flooded with complaints. :D
Absolutely no tinkering with any configuration files is required.

Are you sure your turning on the auto pilot command?
