Hello,
I've got a fresh install of xp sp3. I've been a long time user of zone alarm (zonelabs) and I prefer it, I especially like the old fashioned layout used during the 98se/me era. If I recall I'm using a previous version for win 2000 and it's nice also.
The latest zone alarm as far as I can tell comes bundled where it's mandatory to use their antivirus also, you can't get rid of it as far as I can tell. But I want to use AVG (am I wrong in this?). Also the latest ZA has a lot of nagging to buy the pro version.
What happened to the plane simple no nagging free firewall by itself? Is there a link that I am not aware of to get just the free firewall w/ no nagging?
I've installed the latest ZA on a friend's vista computer, it had a lot of nagging and a 30 day trial, I never found out whether after 30 days it reverts to the plain freeware firewall etc w/ no nagging.
Do you guys know more about this ZA situation?
Because of the above, I installed Comodo firewall instead and opted to not install comodo antivirus and put in AVG instead. Comodo is driving me crazy w/ a zillion popups asking repeately if AVG is OK to run, and I think one AVG exe shut down because I wasn't there to allow it. Some say that Comodo is better stronger, however ZA seems more sophisticated in pre-configuring itself, and is manageable once installed.
I'd like my ZA back, but what can you guys tell me about the latest ZA, can I get the plain free ZA firewall w/o their antivirus and no 30 trial period? Am I overlooking something?
Thanks in advance.
PS: I'm posting this screenshot......just in case! (from a previous pIII w/ fs9)
