I just need something basic that will allow me to backup files to cd, but I don't need a high priced suite like nero, just basic drag and drop function. I already have InCD but I don't like the fact that it is always running and cannot be disabled softly, therefore reenabling requires a rebooting. If I remember correctly I was having stutters in FS with InCd installed.
Thanks for any suggestions, I'm currently searching freeware/shareware sites for something that looks right.

(windows xp sp3)

XP can burn files to CD on its own.

Otherwise there are some free programs listed in the link below.

The biggest reason to avoid using InCD is that discs burned with it may not be readable in computers without the program.

Thanks loki. I'll take a look at the apps at filehippo. CDBurnerXP looks great. I know XP will copy to cd but if the process were any clunkier it would require using the command window, lol. I may end up going this route anyway though since all I'm doing is making backups of FS utilities and apps, and it's not an everyday activity.

I was lucky and never had a problem reading or copying the files on another pc, but you definately can't shuffle or add files to an InCD disk without the software.

With XP you just pop in the disc, drag files to the window that opens, and hit "Write to Disc" when done. No clunkier than going to a third party program and dragging files to the disc.
