I am going to try Win2k and I am wondering if anybody here that has win2k has had any problems with it. My PC is running XP pro, but it isn't working well with my sound card, among other things. Here's my system specs:
Epox 8kta3+ mobo
Athlon 1.4ghz 266 fsb
256mb pc133 ram
GF2 Mx400 64mb
Sound Blaster Live value
40gb WD 7200rpm hdd
WinXP Pro
Thanks for any help-
Brad

Go to dxdiag.exe and turn the sound acceleration to basic and you will see that you have decent sound and will see a marked increase in fps....I had the same problem as you and this fixed it. Good Luck

Not advisable.
Win2K is perfectly good for business uses, but it simply isn't optimized to run well with apps that make heavy use of DirectX. In other words, you're going to take a performance hit when running games.

Hi Brad, I'm running fsk2 on XP pro with the Sound Blaster Live Value and not having any problems. Like xplanefanatic I also have my sound set to basic acceleration in dxdiag.exe. I get great sounds in flightsim and also with music using cambridge surround sound speakers and subwoofer.

I run w2kPro and FS2002 on a low spec system (see sig) and I can't say I have any problems that I can relate to w2k. Before I ran Wme and I haven't seen any change in fps or other performance since I changed. Tho there might be a more apparent difference when running on higher spec systems.
