Hi, i tried to upgrade from IE 7 to IE 8. I didn't like it so i tried to download IE 7 and it would not let me do anything. It will not let me open the internet options, download ANYTHING. If you guys know the ActiveX toolbar, the one you bascially need to download something or allow permissions to yeah. My uncle gave me a link to a website with the fix #225 www.kelleys-koner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm he said find it then double click. But nothing opens so i was wondering if someone could send me the file either here or at my e-mail (alexbrandt101@hotmail.com). He said we need folderproperties. reg.

Thank you very much if you would do this,
Alex

Have no idea what your operating system is (Vista, XP), but have you tried doing a system restore? Just FYI, any time when making a change like this, it's always a good idea to set a system restore point. That way, you can just go back in time like nothing happened. It's saved my tail on more than one occasion.

The way to un-install IE8 is to go to Control Panel-->Programs-->Un-install Programs-->Then click--View Updates, then find IE8 in the list and un-install it. (This is for Vista, but probably similar in XP).

How did you get on here to post? A different computer? If you can get IE8 to un-install, you should then be back to whatever version you had before.

Using Firefox right now. The stupid thing won't let me install. It says it can't copy some dll file from somewhere. I've already tried to manually remove IE. And install it but no. What is the matter??? AHHH

Now you have me very confused! You said you could not install Firefox, but you are posting using Firefox?
It sounds like you've got more problems than just IE8. You should be able to uninstall IE8 by using the procedure I listed above. Myself, I use Firefox/Mozilla, and have been for a long time. It's much better, IMO, than any IE version.

I think more info is needed to work through your problem.

I forgot I had Firefox installed, it saved my life lol. What i had to do was go into the WiNDOWS folder delete IE8 in C:/WINDOWS then install it again and somehow it worked this time.... It would not delete like it should have so i had to figure out an alternative. But anyway i got it solved, thanks for the help guys!

Found this little tidbit (http://www.techradar.com/news/software/operating-systems/50-expert-tips-to-make-your-pc-faster-622700?src=rss&attr=all&artc_pg=3), might help IE8 users.

Fix Internet Explorer 8

If IE8 seems very slow and unreliable then your upgrade from IE7 may have broken some DLL registrations. To fix this, open a command window (if you're running Vista, right-click cmd.exe and select Run as Administrator) and type regsvr32.exe actxprxy.dll. Press [Enter], then reboot your PC to see if the browser has got any faster.

Explorer 8 is has being known to cause lots of issues and isnt a recomeneded upgrade, since ie7 does the job, 8 really doesnt add anything new, and that was from some professional it people who have seeing it cause lots of problems.
