Hey everyone,
This is my first post here. I was wondering if it's possible to use FSX aircraft in FS2004. Could this be done by simply dragging the aircraft files from FSX into FS2004's aircraft folder (similar to downloading aircraft from the web)?
My reason for asking this is because my computer isn't capable of running FSX smoothly, however it does run FS2004 pretty decent. I own both versions, and I realize I'd have to install FSX first, extract the aircraft files, uninstall, then install FS2004 and place the aircraft files.
Thanks

First, Welcome to the forums!
The short answer to your question is: Some will, most won't. It's mainly because of the gauges that FS2004 aircraft uses are not compatible with FSX's gauges.
It's simply a trial and error system to determine which ones will work. Of course, you can usually substitute FSX panels to your FS2004 aircraft.

True designed for FSX model files cannot be read/ displayed properly by FS2004. There are many things in FSX models which FS2004 does not know how to understand.

Disregard most of what I've said! My mind was thinking "importing FS9 aircraft into FSX", and not FSX into FS9.
The first statement I made does, however, stand! :)

That is what I thought this morning when I read your answer, but I kept my mouth shut until you came back to this!

I also have a computer that runs FS9 better than FSX but I have tried some of the tweaks and adjustments suggested in this forum and FSX works better, still slow and a few stutters but I can fly the planes now.
I have both programs loaded and a bunch of freeware planes in each . If I copy an FS9 plane into FSX, I often get a good plane with no panel or sound. If I am lucky, I can find a new panel and sound folder that will work. It isn't always authentic but I don't mind. Copying from FSX into FS9 is usually more successful because a lot of FSX freeware planes have been updated from FS9. Again, you may need a different panel or sound. Go ahead and try it out, you can always delete.
Good luck and welcome to the forum, it is a great bunch.
