Fsinsider.com /tips for SP1 article "Tweaks" section addresses editing several settings in the FSX.Cfg file to improve performance. ''What's Your Frame Rate Part 2" suggests changes as well that I can't find in the FSX.cfg file. I have searched in the sections described and can't find any of the entries mentioned to edit. for example:

[Terrain]
SWAP_WAIT_TIMEOUT = 30

[BufferPools]
PoolSize=100000

and all of the others. Do I have to add all of these entries to the particular sections. I'm not sure that's the case or I'm just missing these for some unknown reason.

You would have to add those and they can be added at any point between any of the categories or added at the beginning or at the end.

If you install SP2, there is actually little you need to do with regard to tweaking the fsx.cfg file.

Here's a widely used link to fsx setup and tweaking that you may find useful:

Thanks for the Info. I went to the Simforums.com site and downloaded NickN's Info on "Setting UP FSX and How to TUNE IT". Nicely detailed and easy to follow.
