How Do I Backup and Restore FS9 and FSX

[I] know hacve a 1 TB external so I can back the whole two programs up-----How?.

Also if FSX crashes how do I reistall from my backup, what needs to go in Regiastry, do I do a vanilla sinstal of FSX acce; sp2 then overwrite.. Is there a "Dummies Guide"?

When I recently did this, I kept my hard drive backed up on an external drive using Synctoy. I also kept backups of my fs9 folder in documents and stttings.

When I rebuilt the hard drive after putting in a new mobo and CPU, I reinstalled FS9 from the disks then overwrote the fs9 folder with my backup. that ensured that the registry entry was in place.

However, you can download a patch that will restore the fs9 and fsx registry entries from Filght1 I think which means that you would not need to reinstall from the fs9 disks if you do it this way.

Be aware though that some addons do create their own registry entries and might therefore ned to be reinstalled and check whether any adons have created folders outside of the fs9 folder.
