Dear brothers and sisters of the FSX World. I have a question about screen stuttering and FSX Settings. Are the linked directly to each other as in higher settings more stutters, or are the stutters a result of something else. When I first got my Gateway FX, and ran FSX, I never had screen stutters. But now that I've had it for about a year I notice that I have stutters in the screen more than ever. I've tried to configure the settings to rid my screen of the "stutters". Sometimes it works, sometimes they come back. Using an NVidia Geforce 8800 GT. Usually have frame rate at unlimited. Most settings are at middle or below average. I've tried to get the best performance out of my machine. Does anyone out there know what settings are best for 8800 GT in FSX? I also have the latest driver for the 8800 card. I believe that it is 181.21.

Hey SSowry,

Have you any other processes running when you are flying FSX? About the best guess I can give is that something is running in the background that is causing the issues. Try gamebooster! It works for me.

Hope that helps

Thanks Rick for helping him with the link for Gamebooster.
Also, take Rick's advice on defrag your machine. If your machine is heavily fragmented it will slow down also! So defrag along with using Gamebooster.

Let us know how it turns out!

I unfortanatly have to run a few things on my pc along with fsx. I have found that if I set fsx to run on one processor and the other apps on the the other one fsx runs smooth.I do this by going into task manager, proccess's . Right click on program and select "set affinity" then select one of the cpu's. Do this for each program that uses much cpu time.Just remember to make sure that fsx and everything else are on different ones.
