I was starting to think that project died.
UT2 & My Traffic X looks very interesting for AI traffic, which would you guys recommend, which has the best framerates etc. ?

Best Frame Rates - obviously the one with the least detailed models, with the square engines and aircraft fuselages.
AI traffic adds thousands and thousands of polygons to your FS world. That of course impacts your FPS in a negative way. The better models, the more details, the more polygons and the more the FPS impact.
You have to decide where the balance point between quality and performance exists on your system.
Burkhard has been updating and revising his models for My Traffic since a little before FSX was released.
Ultimate Traffic 2 got a later start and obtained the rights to modify and update the AI-Aardvark and TFS - The Fruit Stand/ DJC models. As noted on the AIA front page, the original designers did not update the models, that was done by a team hired by Flight1.
I will have to see which I like best.
However, I've had My Traffic X for quite a while and I only use it for testing.
My main personal AI world is highly customized, but the FS2004 AIA, AIG and TFS models are the core of that world.

Second note - read the Ultimate Traffic 2 requirements very carefully.
Flight Simulator Service Pack 2 Required. Make sure you have Service Pack 2 for FSX installed.
If you are running RTM or SP1 - it is not for you.
If you have FSX Acceleration installed - you have SP2.

I am wondering what the go-around are like. Their website alluded to the fact that code was in place to keep that from happening. If anybody has tried it I would like to know what the frequency of Go-arounds are (for the player, don't really care how many times the AI have to Go-around).

I have MTX 5.2a installed for testing and use and I haven't seen any square engines or fuselages, but then again I only use the DX10 compatible models. As far as quantity, it would appear that UT2 (version 1) has roughly half the airlines, aircraft series and paints as compared to MTX 52a. UT2 certainly has room for future growth...
I was fascinated to see one pic on the web page which happened to be a familiar KIAD. The airlines parked at the gates look exactly like MTX paints with the same night lighting. I actually couldn't tell the difference from the pic.
I also noticed that UT2 has the ability to "turn off the jetways" so to speak. This is going to be of great value to a great many simmers IMO. MTX also has this function as well.
For now I'm sticking with MTX 52a and WOAI (for testing only), but I've got an interested eye on UT2.

What is the difference between these other products and World of AI (which seems to be free)? I installed a couple of World of AI modules then held off because someone said it would slow my system down quite a bit.
Obviously, bringing my system to a grinding halt with detailed AI plane models is -not- what I'm looking for so I'd be interested to know which runs fastest and still looks like it has semi-decent aeroplanes :D

MTX 5.2a has the ability of loading different AI planes models. I believe the list is;
Models with high res but low animation
Models with low res but high animation
Models with high res and high animation
Models with low res and low animation
You also have the option of enabling or disabling FSX default traffic. After installing MTX with the default settings and then disabling FSX default traffic I was able to increase my traffic settings within FSX to 60 on both the Airline and GA densities and have retained the same framerates.
I haven't tried using the different model types as the default models look fine to me.

Rabin, here are a couple of pics of MTX 5.2a AI landing at Rwy 12 at KIAD and KIAD night pics showing MTX 5.2a AI at traffic density of 65% The picture quality is greatly reduced but I think it gives you a glimpse of the quality of AI with MTX.
I find my system is impacted more by moving jetways as opposed to AI detail, but certainly the greater the detail the heavier the fps impact. WOAI is free so I'm not sure how you can go wrong?

Ultimate Traffic 2 is something I've been waiting to talk about for a long time...
I'll have to look at specifics but I believe it has it's own AI system and doesn't rely on FSX's AI system...

Have not actually looked at the details/spec................
But....talking to the Flight1 guy last week he told me that in this new version the AI are actually flying real airways:eek:
Looking at the AI as shown on the map in FSC I was/am always amazed at the lengths I go to in order to comply with the "rules" and maintain the airways while the AI are all over the place flying any which way:(

I am using MTX and WOAI, I may give this one a go and take MTX off though, it does look good. I find WOAI very good especially for areas where the commercail addons have very few flights--such as Nepal

Yes, Ultimate Traffic uses real world airline schedules, and as per history they do provide updated schedules over time...
I know quite a few details from years back of what UT2 was going to include when I was talking with Tom, I'll speak with Flight 1 soon and see if I can confirm what made the cut and what didn't...

This was gone over in the Ultimate Traffic forums, but basically you are looking at almost three years worth of work, little of which mirrors what the prior versions entailed. Upgrading old code is completely different from changing the design and implementation of a product.

True, didn't thank of that one at all either - Plus people do need to get paid the value of the work - good point on that one...:)

Note that this is only available as a download:mad:
At 1.2Gb I may not live long enough to complete the process with my dreadfully slow "broadband" connection.
A post to Flight1 earned the reply that a boxed version should be available in 6 - 8 weeks:)

Give it a little while. Flight1 almost always makes a CD/DVD version of products available a few weeks after first launch of a product.
