Hi all; I have returned to Flightsimming after a 3 year absence.
WOW, sure has become an expensive hobby! i.e. $20.00 for scenery for 1 airport!?! $100.00 for 1 aircraft?!?
Hope there are still freeware people around, now that I'm retired.
I'm liking FSX though, and maybe I'll have to budget 1 plane a month or something.

There's a lot to be said for being happy with what you've got! I certainly don't buy a new plane every month -- or every other month come to that! :)

And its jolly well free.
Put your wallet away Sir!
And enjoy your sim.

I've decided that most freeware is as good if not better than some of the overpriced payware and as such if I see a review of payware and I fancy what I see, the usual sites get trawled first for a free version.

There is no such thing as free payware.

I think he means demos from the payware company. :)

I think he means demos from the payware company. :)

No he means for example that I saw the review for the RealAir Scout, looks fantastic but being a grippy Scotsman lets have a look at the file libraries and finds the various freeware Scouts and stasifies his desire without spending a penny. That is not to say that the RealAir version is not good, just that it is possible to find quality for free.
Another example I would use are Project Fokker, Project Airbus, Project Opensky, MelJet et al, as long as you are comfortable with the FS file structure then freeware is the way to do it!

Cheers
