I am new to this flight sim stuff and not very computer literate.
I have a Dell Inspirion 17" notebook. I want to get a flight Sim game?
What upgrades ( expensive or not )?
can I do it myself?
What game and control? I want something with fighter jets.
Thanks

The game I'd reccomend to you depends on the performance of that notebook of yours. Can you give me more details please?

I've been running FSX on a Dell XPSM1710 for the past couple of years. It was a high spec laptop when I got it (2.33 GHz Centrino Duo, NVidia 7950GTXGo graphics, 4GB RAM, 250GB hard drive), and it gives reasonable performance at mid to high settings. It runs FS9 very well, but the graphics in FS9 are much coarser. Either sim has a plethora of fighter jets available (not my 'thing' so can't advise).
FSX and FS9 are not a 'combat' games (again, others can advise if that's what you're looking for)
Get yourself a joystick for control (at minimum), since flight sims are very hard to control with just the keyboard. A Saitek Evo will cost around £30 (what I use) or an X52Pro is around £135. You can also get yokes, throttle quadrants, rudder pedals etc.
