Hi
On my turboprops and helicopters, the fans start rotating quite fast after switching on the engines.
Is there any way of making them start-up slower like in real life?

He was talking about spinning props / blades. Not brakes. What he wants is for blades to start slowly and pick up speed.
Since the blades are a round graphic (bmp) and not individual blades, even if there is some effort to show props at different 'stages' of spin, there are only (1). stoped (2). when spinning on start up and (3). when spinning on idle or above. If THAT much. So, that's it. No in between, so even if you can make the rpm increase slowly (on the panel gauge), the props / blades themselfs will not match or 'visually' correspond to the what the rpm gauge is doing. Sorry about that.

Chuck;
Gotta disagree with you, Bro.. Remember that RCS B-25J I was messing with in FSX? Well, I downloaded the FS9 version (I got smart) and the Props on it will crank slowly on starting.. if it doesn't start (common with the B-25's), the props "wind down" to a stop.. Even on starting you can see the "hesitation" and spurts of rotational speed as the engine tries to catch.. Once started, the "speed" of the prop, as determined by the direction of the "blur" changes with engine RPM.. the sound does, as well..
Of cource the Roy Chaffin model is a very detailed program.
Charles.
PS The Slo-Mo problem went away.. don't know why...

You don't have to 'disagree', as helicopters and turbos IS different case to the B25 (which has 'modern' graphic techniques). You don't say if you applied this 'new technique' to a helicopter or turbo which was what the OP was inquireing as to how to do). (I DON'T HEAR YOU ... (heehee)). The 'slo-mo' is prob your sys specs straining, but not sure. (Kidding!).

Actually, normally built models have three sets of "fans" or "blades:"
1. still
2. slow
3. blurred

That's what I said.
