Sorry no Flight Simulation question.
When I launch the particular program (Ulead VideoStudio 6) I get the message
”This Program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down"
It does this the first time I open the program after a clean reboot, after that when I launch it again it works every time.
I had another 2 Ulead apps (MovieFactory and DVD PictureShow) and I uninstalled ALL of these Ulead products including VideoStudio. Reboot and deleted all ulead folders, also I did a Regclean and Easyclean. Installed VideoStudio again and still the same problem!
Any ideas where to look?
Windows 98SE, PIII 1KHz, 512 RAM

One quick thing to try is hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and end any programs that aren't needed to run the machine. With Win98, Systray and Explorer should be the only things left in the Close Program box. After you get everything shutdown but the aforementioned 2 programs, try launching your program. If it works correctly, then you have a conflict.
Another trick is to boot the computer in Safe Mode(use the F8 key immediately after the BIOS screen) and see if the program launches successfully. Note, Safe Mode is real ugly and you won't be able to do much, it is just a way to narrow down the problem.
If neither of the above have an effect, hit the Details button on the error. The whole message, except for the paragraph will all the numbers/letters will be needed.

It is definately another program that is in no way associated to Ulead, that is causing your problem.
The problem is finding out wich one!
Go to start / run and type msconfig then press enter.
In the startup tab of the window tha you now have in front of you, take the tick out of any thing you dont need to start up when windows does.
If you do them individually then reeboot each time then you will find which one it is that is causing your illegal operation.
I would start with your Virus software.

Thanks Christopher for trying to help. I appreciate that.
I did hit CTRL+ALT+DEL and left only Explorer and Systray on and when I launch the program I still get the dreaded massage " This Prgram has performed an illegal......"
In safe mode the program doesn't launch at all.
The error message is this one:
VSTUDIO caused an invalid page fault in
module KERNEL32.DLL at 017f:bff7b9f5.

I must also mention that I have reinstalled the video drivers and still no help.
Well I don't know what else to do. I just have to leave with it untill I get another idea.

Glad to hear that you got it fixed. I should have asked if all your drivers are up to date, especially Video and Soundcard. These and conflicting software are usually the cause of most, if not all problems. MSCONFIG is also a great place to troubleshoot should you find yourself in another jam.
Take care,
