Well guys, I guess I will be 'grounded' for part of the weekend (hopefully that is all:eek:) My FS2004 has crashed.

The scenery.cfg file apparently became corrupted, and inspite of all the helpful advice I received from the nice folks on the main FS2004 forum, I finally have to admit defeat tonight... I formatted the entire FS hard drive a few minutes ago. Next task is to format the ENTIRE computer system and reload everything (Windows, etc.) I guess it is about time for a fresh restart anyways.:rolleyes:

I will leave you with this picture till I return. It's a Piper Tomahawk II, originally designed for FS2000 and updated for FS2002. I have flown more hours than I can remember with this particularly enjoyable airplane in years past ~ it was such fun! I had loaded it into FS2004 to make some pictures last week. Unfortunately, in the FS9 platform none of the animations are active and the prop textures are missing. However, it is a fine example of the superb quality textures that Carenado has always been famous for in their outstanding line of GA airplane models! Currently the JustFlight version is the only surviving payware aircraft model flying the FS skies these days.

Watch for a series of screenshots coming later this weekend of this latest flight with the Tomahawk.

Yikes! So sorry Glenn - too bad it didn't turn out to be like a Miracle on the Hudson, with all intact. Hope you figure it out...good luck! That's why keep your new install simple - only what you REALLY need, like I did this time around. That will save ALOT of headaches.

Glad I'm not the only one doing a fresh install this weekend then Glenn.

Nice shot btw. :cool::cool::cool:

I've been installing since Thursday and I've only got as far as FS9. Still got all the AI and scenery to do yet!!!!! Looks like it's going to be a long weekend. :(:(:(

Sorry to hear about your computer. I have actually gone a couple years without having done so. I used to do it at least once a year, wether or not I needed to. A couple of years ago, ATI had some problems with their drivers for my video card and MS had a sound card update that would crash my system, but I ended up doing a few reinstallations before the problem was finally resolved. However with so many installs I ended up having to call MS several times to be able to register my operating system and FSX. It was a very frustrating time and have attempted to avoid a situation like that again, therefore the harddrive has to fall apart before I reinstall.

I just did that a couple of days ago. My computer got a nasty virus that just didn't go away no matter what I did. So after two days I've reformatted the whole thing, reinstalled Windows and FS. The bad thing is that reinstalling Windows and getting my PC back to its original state only takes about 3 hours. Reinstalling FS9 takes about 7 or 8.

Ouch again. Sad to hear this, Tom. For everyone's info: there is a nasty computer virus presently making it's rounds,
infecting in excess of 9 million machines world-wide thus far. Particular vulnerabilities: external USB hard drives. ~FYI~

Thanks for all the support guys! You are such wonderful friends!!!:D

Well, I have gotten Windows XP Pro. reloaded and all the system updates completed. Now the next things will be the various hardware and device updates, Ultimate-Defrag.2008 and the virus software. Once all of that is working properly, I will begin the loooooong:( task of re-installing all of the FS9 software and the tons of add-ons. Should be lot's of fun! LOL
I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend. Mine has been pretty busy with committments and chores, etc. which keep interupting the progress of the installations.

Simon: I wish you much luck my friend. Thanks for being my friend on Facebook.:)
Ironman: Yes, I have had the Microsoft nightmare:eek: too many times before also, and had to make the calls to get new ID numbers for my windows copies.:mad: It is a major pain!
