I "think" this version is what I have. I DO KNOW whatever version I have...it's NOT the latest version. This version is Active as opposed the the last version that I had which was Passive. I have noticed this program seems to have the propensity to DISCONNECT me from the internet quite a lot.. (Dial Up) I thought it was my Dial Up telephone number, so I changed it. I'm still disconnected..Always Spybot asks my permission to Delete Keys..Then Add back Keys. Yada Yada

NOW......as soon as I LOG ON....... to go on line....I deactivate S&D. Result: No more Dis-Connects. My plan is to let S&D check after the fact... Always to DE Activate it when I go on line.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? SPOFF

I have 98se, sd 1.6, and dialup, no problems.

I wonder if your dialup settings need to be adjusted. I have mine set so that even if it is idle that it will stay connected. the way I navigate to this setting is either Internet Explorer Properties, or go to Control Panel and click on I think Internet Properties. Then press the Connections tab, then Settings button, then Advanced button. There, there are two boxes offering to disconnect the connection after idle for a certain number of minutes, and another box to disconnect if the connection is no longer needed. Make sure that those two boxes are not checked. Try that and see if it's working.

How is your FSX? Are you using the same computer? I have a computer similar to yours, but am only using it for fs9. I have several that are more powerful but still under construction, however they are still very modest. If you want to upgrade, don't get a pre-packaged Dell, they might be nice but they are over priced. You can build your own for less, and I think with better components. Ordinary home/office Dells are great, but for gaming do it yourself methods are better and cheaper.

If I recall, Spybot 1.5 was terrible, it took a very long time to load up, it really had some serious faults. Spybot 1.5.2 was a great improvement. However Spybot 1.6 was a drastic improvement. Consider this, this computer is only 500 mhz p3, and on 98se, and Spybot 1.6 is running great, no problems. 1.6 is greatly superior.

I can't stand dialup, but I have a modest budget.

Hi 355: Thanks for the tip on S&D 1.6. I wasn't aware there was a new one. I downloaded 1.6.0 this morning. (14.3 MB). Not installed yet. I have maintained 1.5.0 with updates every couple of weeks since November '07.... "Detection Rules" Only.. so as to prevent 1.5.2 from installing, which gave me fits the last time I tried it.

FSX is working pretty good lately. When I fire it up, if the FPS are around 29-32 (Locked at 35)... at my home airport, I go flying, and the FPS will stay above 26-34 pretty much all the time. Local small airports flying the Default Maule, Goose, or Beaver. I like Friday Harbor and Pacific North West.. north of Seattle for the seaplanes. NICE Default Scenery. I have NO FSX Addons at all.

When I want to fly, to get this performance, I reboot the computer which is already at "Running Temperature," Log on, Disable S&D and then open FSX. Most of the time... if I Don't do it this way, the FPS will be at 15 to start and won't improve..period. So maybe I'll reboot one more time. If the FPS don't double, I won't bother to fly. SPOFF

I have a weak computer running fs9 and it does the same thing, I restart it and the frame rates increase. I bought it at a garage sake for about $7. I've overhauled it and upgraded it five times, and had to take the front cover off as originally it had a cdrom where you just insert the cd straight in like an car cd player. So not only is it overhauled frequently it also looks like something that came out of my LAB-BORATORY, so I call it "Frankenputer". Started w/ a crummy board and 300 mhz pII, now it has a nice Asus mobo w/ 1.1 ghz celeron A370 chip, the 2nd chip installed, and 2nd heatsink/fan. Heavy POSKY 747's have reduced fps, but others run OK. I have bigger video cards for it however the psu is not cooperating so now it only has a standard pci 64 mb nvidia card. I'm tempted to put this into a lower level case and upgrade the mobo again to an AMD chip and I think an nvidia board. I have a few such simulators, it is my hobby to tinker on them, need to fly them more but have been too busy.

I have a similar computer to yours that has a 256 mb pci-express video card (found in garbage and repaired). I found several pci-e cards in the garbage and when I have a chance I'm going to see if any of those are still working. Some such cards display a pizza picture, but sometimes i luck out and they work fine. For example, all three of our tv's blew out, got another 27 inch for my mom, then for myself, found three computer tv cards in the garbage, I have one working so far, have to check on the others. Lucky!

I might possibly get fsx, probably fsx gold.
