I have been using Microsoft Flight Simulator since the 2002 version. I am thinking of trying my hand at repainting aircraft for my own use or possibly freeware to expand the hobby and wondering how to get started. I am wondering if the Abacus repaint package or any other payware is worth the money or can I use a freeware package? I have looked at the tutorial by Alejandro Hurtado in which was written in 2006. Is this tutorial still relevant for FSX SP2? Is there any other repaint sites available for FSX?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I'll go with deepsea345 on the website link. Learnt a lot from this site myself.
I'm currentley using paint.NET for my re paints.
Abacus FS Repaint ver2 is good for previewing your work, this is what I do when I'm painting.
Have a look here as well.

Thank you for the links and the repaint pictures. I am very encouraged DeepSea345 by your repaints, Especially the first repaint you did, it looks great and I would not expect too much from my first try!

I really am impressed with your repaints. Thank you for the links, the various responses to your repaints were very informative. Seems that I will have to brush up on layering in Photoshop. I have an older version of photoshop and am thinking of installing the GIMP opensource link you gave me. Thanks again and I will check out the screenshot forum for more of your work. Much appreciated!

I must admit I'm a bit of a Gimp when it comes to GIMP. :D:D Just can't seem to get to the bottom of that program. :o:o Layering is the key to all painting, as I've learnt with many failed attempts. Once you get on with layers most things are possible. :):)

and you'll immediately get hooked on repainting, once you see your first paint in FS, you'll be amazed and want to do more;)
