It's surprising they didn't include Lugano (LSZA).

ILS/GS/DME Rwy01 elev 915' has a GS of 6.65 degrees. This means at 140kts the vertical speed is 1665ft/min. At 10 miles behind the runway the mountains are as high as 6000ft. The runway has a length of 4429 ft (1350m).

Throw in some nasty weather with low ceilings, at night, heck- simulate a failure or two... and most any airport becomes dangerous. ;)

Try Milford Sound, New Zealand. Lots of big mountains in immediate proximity to the runway. I think the default FSX scenery for it may be a bit glitchy though.

Bata in Equatorial Guinea is another good one - it's not too bad with a light aircraft, but trying flying in using a 737 sized aircraft.

landed at Lugano in the Mooney Bravo the other day - taking of from Locarno and landing at Lugano is a great short trip. Don't clip the trees on the way down...

I personally would have lake to have seen Aces put a little more into the build of the Courchevel airport (LFLJ). I would really like to have been able to fly that one, oh well maybe next time. :)

Guess witch is the real one.

You can download one that looks almost like the real one above. The one you show is default FSX and not even close (as you can see).

Go here and download the airport/s. It's free and you get four airports in all.

It's a pity the person posting those didn't identify them...

I have no idea myself, but it's definitely unique!

Sounds good to me.:)

And if you like that one try London's downtown airport. You land between the buildings and the descent is also over 6%......fun

I believe the one below Lukula is a private fly-in community in the North Carolina mountains...the name escapes me at the moment.

Mathis Airport just north of Atlanta is pretty hairy as well. They just recenly re-paved it, before that it was 1450'x15' with maybe 50' overruns to a good 30-50' dropoff on each end of the runway. They added some fill on one end and widened it a bit and are now calling it 1550x20'. Most folks driveways aren't much narrower than the old runway width. Oh yeah...there also used to be about half a dozen tombstones laid flat and set in concrete right off the south end of the runway!!

You've just got to have some mad short field landing skills there and I imagine it becomes particularly interesting on a windy day. I still don't have the guts to try to land there myself, most of the aircraft based there are your typical 150s, 172s, 182s, couple of Cherokees, etc.. I imagine on a warmer day some most everyone has to leave with light fuel tanks or only one passenger.

ok, all of you try "SABA" real hard to land. and fsx had a glitch there at saba, the elevation of the airport is too low. its at 4 meters when it should be 80meters.

approach from the south in a DC-3 (Default in FSX MAAM-SIM in FS9, set your weathe up so you have aournd 7/10th with southerly winds , viz of 1/4 mile in heavy rain winds 40kt gusting 60 and some decent winds shear. ATC will assign you the 'HARBOUR APPRAOCH to rwy 16, depending on ATC you'll eiehter fly a right hand downdiwind, trubning base over the city, or a left had downwind up the harbour ewntrance agian, turning baser over the city and alost at once on to final. In real life I always used the Inersiland Ferry ternminal as the turn poin on to finals--0there is a stadium nesx to it now. The the fun starts! wELLINGON (aka Rongatai) is a pain in the A## to land on well at the best of time, in bad weather......

I didn't see Aspen Colorado USA (KASE) listed here. Surely it should be. RW 15 is the only real way in. You start the approach at 13,000 feet so it helps to be turbocharged just to get there. The runway is 11 miles away at 7820 feet asl at a 7-10 degree glidescope into a high valley surrounded by mountains on three sides. No night operations-the airport is closed at night in real life. You have a localizer to help but no ILS. And this airport has a second localizer used just for missed approaches and take offs! Check it out, there is even a scenery pack from Aerosoft.
