I'm sure this has been posted before but is there a way of stopping the AI from looking like it has a big orange 'puffa' jacket, or aero-cosy, around it from certain angles?

sorry for the lack of responses, I don't know much about it either but figured you deserved some sort of reply.
I don't think you can get rid of that effect unless you change your lighting. Shockwave offers aftermarket lighting, and a few other programs may as well, such as flight environment extreme.

Thanks, it's only from a front angle but it does look a bit weird. I'm wondering if turning 'light bloom' on would make a difference but then I'm wary as it's supposed to affect the dreaded FPS.

I dunno, I can't run light bloom and maintain my good performance. I do have the same problem you do though.
