For a change, I'll be the one asking a question this time... :P

I've decided to start my own blog, powered by WordPress, and needed free hosting for it. If you know of anything suitable, or are willing to offer me hosting (I only need up to 10 MB of space, it's just a blog), here's what I am looking for in my host...

- No ads.
- 1 MySQL database.
- No 'catches' [must post at our forums etc]
- I can't host on Wordpress.com, I need to be able to manage the files [install new themes, etc]
- No Blogger.com. It's pathetic, and I can't get the name I need.
- I do need some PHP so that my contact forms can work.
- The subdomain name really shouldn't be too long "*********.gofreeserve.com?' Nah.
- Preferably something to which I can upload zips and unarchive online, FTP just isn't fast enough.

What my blog will contain, I'll specify later. Thanks everyone!

Hi Asad,

If you want free hosting I can let you use thewritingblog.com, which is sitting completely idle. You know how to do the GoDaddy research for this URL, let me know.

As the name indicates, I had planned this site to host writers. A true blog would be a great place to start if you wanted to do this. In spite of its being idle for the past two years I have no intentions of deleting this site. I don't understand your technical requirements but you know how to figure out if GoDaddy offers what you need.

At any rate we could set you up as a subsite, just as you said, and I could keep the main site open for its originally intended purpose -- maybe two blogs in all? Yours plus the writers? We might have to tweak the current set of features for the account but that's easily done in mere minutes.

Indeed, GoDaddy definitely supports what I need. :)

My blog will be about the tech world, ways to make your computer better, gaming, flight simulation... I think you get the drift.

If indeed I can set myself up as a subsite, it would be great. I think we can co-ordinate the rest over e-mail.
