Well I'm back in the Newcomer Forum after straying away for a couple of posts, but just like a dog I had to check out new territories.:) And as I mentioned over in the FS2004 Forum I'm now the proud owner of FS2004, which brings me to asking a couple of questions.

When I set the frame rate to 30 and screen resolution to 1024x768 (same as in FS2002 the images don't seem quite as sharp as in FS2002. I use the same shot of the 737-400 at the same airport and same gate. This normal?

Another thing I've noticed is that in FS2004 the 1024x768 resolution also affects the startup screen, where as in FS2002 the resolution didn't change until you clicked Fly Now. It makes it less than a full screen image. Any solutions to this? Not unhappy, or complaining about buying FS2004 because I love the old planes and flying them. Just a few quirks I'd like to here other opinions/answers on.
Thanks

I'm not sure really as I never tried FS2002 but here goes.

FS2004 on my computer is never as sharp as any other I've seen on the Screenshot forum, however this could be hardware related. This could be your problem, your hardware worked perfectly for FS2002 but it isn't enough for a 'perfect' FS2004 display. You may have more than the System Requirements on the back of the box, like I do, but it needs a lot more to make FS2004 run really well.

Hope this helps.

Hi Bob,

A number of points.

1. In FS2004 you have the options of Windowed Mode and Fullscren Mode. In Windowed Mode FS2004 uses the same resolution as your Windows Desktop. In Fullscreen Mode FS2004 uses whatever resolution you have selected in the Settings. Generally you will have fewer problems if you set both the same, as switching between different resolutions can sometimes cause graphics-related crashes.

2. If you are using a Flatscreen monitor it will give the best image at its "native" resolution. For a 17" or 19" monitor this is likely to be 1280x960 / 1280x1024 or similar.

As for posted screenshots, bear in mind that many users have modern systems with powerful processors and very good cards. They also may "tweak" the images to improve them over and above what is produced in FS2004.

Cheers,

Alastair
