Hi there,

Do any of the good folk out there know if there is a freeware program available that will automaticly shut down un-needed Vista background programs and resorces thus freeing up processor time and memory.
I have a similar program on my other computer that is running FS9 called
FS Autostartup.
My FSX system does not run any kind of firewall, secuity system or virus checker as it is not connected to the internet, so I am not loosing any processing power there.
I open the Task Manager and try to shut down as much as I can but its quite a hit and miss afair. Plus it takes a little bit of time do do.
Any help in this aera would be greatfully recevied.

Many thanks

Andy

Here is a great site -helped speed up my system

http://www.highflightsimulations.com/
Many add-on files for AutoGen and a complete listing of FSX tweaks that has really streamlined my system. They have a section called "must have files" - most are for enhanced effects.
They list all the suggested Nividia & ATI graphics card settings as well as suggested FSX graphics settings.
They have a new release of the Super Connie( for SP1/SP Acceleration) plus all of the freeware have a setup.exe file for easy loading( no copy paste of files)

They have answered all of my questions the same day, very friendly site!

Bob and his team there are great people...

They also have a service where you give them all your system specs, send them your config file, and for ten bucks they will rewrite it for all tweaks that pertain to your system and that will help your sim..I have used it twice now and I must say after that my frames not only increases but it smoothed down a lot...

Its very easy and for me extremely convienent to let them do it.....:)

Its also a good idea to run Vista stripped-down. For example you can permanently disable Aero (if you are not big into eye-candy that is). And if you do a Google search you will find some good sites that tell you what Vista services can be stopped permanently as well. Also on the Performance Options window in Vista you can choose "Adjust for Best Performance" this will strip off Aero and all the nonsense like "shadows under menus" and all that blah blah :)

Everything for simming right? Hee hee!
