Hi, there:
A friend of mine had 1 GB of RAM in his PC and upgraded to 2 GB. Now, everytime he starts FS9 or starts a flight, the computer crashes and restarts by itself.
Any help?
His computer:
Processor: 3.0 MHz
Video: ATI Radeon 9600, 256MB
RAM: 2 1 GB sticks at 400 MHz. (Each memory stick is from a different brand)
OS: Windows XP
Thanks for your help!!

I would highly recommend running 2 sticks of the same model, or get kit RAM, where two sticks are tested and paired together.
That could be the problem. can he run the new one only? So it only crashes when both sticks are used?

Move the new RAM to a different slot on the MB.

Wouldn't hurt to check the BIOS to make sure the board recognizes all the memory.

Thank you all for your help.
My friend says he now has 2 MarkVision 1GB 400 MHz memory modules (plus the old one).
He has placed each module alone in both slots and the PC runs fine. It only does not work when both modules are installed.
The BIOS says there are 2 GB of RAM.

Have him use slot 1 and 3 instead of 1 and 2.

Has the Voltage setting, in bios, been changed to match the Voltage requirement of the new memory sticks?
