I have the payware airport scenery for Brest in France. It is very good but there is a flatten problem
The designers Simudesign no longer exist . The issue is that if starting and staying within the area of the airfield all remains fine. Flying in from a distant airport is when he problem occurs. As soon as you touch down on the runway the original default scnery bleeds through as you proceed across it.
The developers issued a patch which when unzipped was simply badged as SDB_Flattenpatch. I've tried opening it which is not recognised or just placing it in the relevant scenery folder where it just seems to sit doing nothing as the problem recurrs.
Is anyone familiar with the problem or the patch which I assume is a bgl file but not recognised a such by FS as it as become very frustrating?

So does this patch have any type of extension?

The file has the simple name as quoted. It is not shown as a BGL file and checking properties I see it is an application file with .exe after the title. However when I tried to open, the pc does not recognise the program? Does that help?

If it is an executable file then I would expect if you run it then it will install the patch. Are there any instructions with it? Are you saying the you tried to run it and nothing happened?

Know nothing about the patch, but the symptoms are typical when you try to change the elevation of a default airport. The fix is to install a stub AFCAD file with the correcterd elevation into your scenery\world\scenery.

Yes I tried to run but had the message "is not a valid Win 32 application". No there were no instructions with it.
I have subsequentlty tried to contact the Auther through another site unsuccesfully. I recently decided to try and sort the problem out so here I am.
Thanks for your interest

I had pretty much given up on the patch in the hope that someone would tell me how to correct it. Thanks for your advice-only trouble is I dont know how to create a stub AFCAD file. Could you tell me please or where I can learn what to do.
Thanks

Would you like to email me the patch zip file so that I can take a look at it? jon AT scruffyduck.co.uk.
We can then look at how to create a stub bgl file for the airport altitude

Thanks for looking at the patch Jon. I note you didn't get anywhere with it either. Any idea what I can do with the fundamental problem?

I'm not sure I do. What does the scenery consist of? I would think this depends on how it was made. If it is a GMax airport then the problems are quite different than if it is an airport modified from the stock airport. Are there several bgl files and textures involved?

Me again. I've looked at the files. Scenery contains number of BGL files inc flatten items,Texture files quite extensive with lots of buildings etc.Not much if any is original airport?

Then I suspect it would be quite a painstaking job to fix it :(

Thanks again Jon. I'll see if I can find the author and how the patch is supposed to work.
