View Full Version : CH Products (Flight Sim Yoke) Trim

Guys, although I'm relatively new here to Flight Sim (and loving every minute of it) I've decided to go "back to basics" and learn to use and understand the software properly
I'm running FSX using both CH Products Flight Sim Yoke and Rudder Pedals. I've also just purchased Microsoft Flight Simulator for Pilots Real World Training book.
I'm starting from the ground up and have noticed that I don't fully understand all the control assignment on the CH Yoke.
What I need to understand is... how do I assign the trim function in FSX to the actual trim wheel on the Yoke?
Any ideas?

That wheel is to set your center on the pitch axis, you can't assign something to it.

CPS Bruce is correct, the little wheel on the left of the yoke is a mechanical link to the yoke up / down axis. It cannot be assigned.
HOWEVER, what I have done is to reassign the rocker switch on the top left of the yoke to be my trim control. (AFTER you make sure the plane is in level flight using the "trim wheel". Then leave that wheel alone!)
In Flight Stimulator, Simply go into Options / settings / controls / buttons, keys / event category "control surfaces" and then click on "elevator trim down". Then click on "new assignment" and click on the topmost rocker button (next to the topmost red button), then hit "OK". Do the same for the "elevator trim up" and use the bottommost rocker button.
Works great.

Thanks Guys. You've answered my question 100%.
I actually found the answer whilst looking at other threads but both your responses are very helpful.
Many Thanks
