Jackson Hole Wyoming KJAC is a great airport to fly into and out of.

On approach to Runway 19 you fly parallel to the Grand Tetons giving
you a great view of the mountains.

Upon arrival, since there are no jet bridges you get to walk right out on
to the ramp with those spectacular mountains behind you. Your first visit
there will leave you speechless.

There have been a few notable incidents at KJAC in recent years. An aircraft
carrying Sandra Bullock went off the end of the runway.
A C-130 carrying Secret Service equipment for Bill Clinton crashed on take off
into Indian Head Mountain and one of the Walton kids (of Walmart fame) killed
himself in an ultra light crash in 2006, I believe.

Since Vice President Dick Cheney's official residence is in Teton Pines the 757
that operates as Air Force Two is a regular site on the ramp.

For a small airfield there is a lot going on.

I worked in the Grand Teton National Park for five years and would see these
aircraft fly in and out on a daily basis.

Another fs9 aircraft working well in fsx.

Jerry, you make me want to visit there. I've only been farther east, at Gillette, to see the Devil's Tower.....just driving through to St. Ignatius, Montana

I've been out to the tower twice. had more fun sitting on the tailgate of the truck taking pictures of the prairie dogs..

If you went a couple hours east, you could have visited Sturgis. It's a neat place to visit even if it isn't bike week.

Then, an hour east again you could have gone up the hill and saluted the presidents.

All this is making me miss my yearly trips. I leave here and go to vermont for a week.
then head west. I'd stop at most of the tourist traps along the way. Go clear to seattle.
I'd then loop down to tenino and visit my adopted wolf at wolf haven.
Then head southeast & stop at the dino place. Then north and about 10 days later end up at the lodge in the grand teton
national park where I worked for the next 6 months. The place shuts down for the winter in mid october and it was a southern
trip through denver to phoenix, then back to nc.

If you ever get a chance, jackson hole and the tetons are a must. While you are in that area, yellowstone is just a few more
miles north. plan at least 3-4 days there. You cannot see yellowstone in one day.

I have my Sturgis ride patch....JK. I was escorted (actually followed the hordes of bikers--who were watching the limits because of all the highway police around) from South Dakota to Montana by Harleys and various types riding them. I drove through it as fast as possible.....getting gas was a nightmare as everypump for 200 miles was surrounded by swarms of gassing-up bikers. I got it on film, so there was some reward. The Tower had the coolest thunderstorm that lasted two hours and washed out my tent at the Federal campground at the base.

I want to see Jackson Hole.....True Grit and Dances with Wolves were shot nearby. Glad you have those memories.....hope you get another crack at it.

I don't know if I would have camped out there. That big bear that chased those indian girls up the tower that started the whole thing may still be around.

Yea, some of dances with wolves was filmed in the black hills behind mt rushmore. I love that movie..
The horse was at a "see me here" joint in eastern s.d. Dunno if he's stll there or not. They may have another horse by now. ;)

I walked around the Tower and those girls put up a good chase, indeed. Bear claws or fingernails......oooooow, my nails, I'll clobber that bear!

I had the best time. Woke up with the prairie dogs and, like you, sat shooting them.....not like those youtube gun tests, just dog-watching.

Now, you make me want to go back. Had the best time in that part of the country. When I get my hi-mpg suv, I'll join you there.....in a few years.
