Is there an easy way to know which programs running in task manager I can close so my FS9 will run without stuttering? Is there a program I can run or get it to do this, and then return to normal when I'm through flying or need the other programs? I've noticed the stuttering has gotten worse since I upgraded my P4 to Core 2 Duo, ATI 2600 card, 2 gb ram. I also have UT and FE. The only selections I'm using in UT is the water enhancement. I've de-selected everything else, but that hasn't helped. Any ideas on a solution to his mess? All input is appreciated.

If you have defragged, updated all the chipset/video card/sound drivers then check your mobo manufacturer for a BIOS update. Sometimes simply plopping a new processor in doesn't work fully until you update your motherboard BIOS.

What are your computer specs? Which Core 2 Duo? Motherboard or computer brand name/model number if store bought?

I accept what Paxx has to say regarding BIOS updates because I trust his judgement, and I fully agree with Paxx regarding defragging. I've even gone so far as to purchase a couple of different third party utility programs to address this issue, see elsewhere in this forum for the various opinions on that subject.

To that comment I'll add that if you really really really want to turn off Windows services before an FS session and restart them after the FS session, you should look into the latest version of "FS AutoStart" by Ken Salter. The name of the program may have changed, I'm not sure, but searching on the author's name should reveal what the latest stuff is.
