I can see 178 aircraft in the SELECT AIRCRAFT selection. (that includes the many paint jobs for the same aircraft).
I have (according to my SIM OBJECTS/AIRPLANE) 73 aircraft not showing that I have installed.
How can I get them to show?
I thank you all for your response in advance.

They're most likely special AI aircraft that can't be flown.

A few of them are from HJG (DC8's etc.) That can be used in FSX

I can tell you any plane that you have that do not show up most likely have a problem in panel folder or sound folder.
Sound folder problem that is common is a sound folder that has sound ((alias)) to a plane sound that you do not have.
It looks like below in sound folder.
[fltsim]
alias=C172/Sound
The above is alias to a FSX aircraft and will fix your problem if it is a problem with sound.
Same with panel, alias to a plane panel you do not have.
Ether of these mistakes and plane will not show up.
Hope this helps you .

I just read the post regarding missing aircraft. I have the same problem and it is, in fact, a problem with the panels. However, in my case, the 2 aircraft involved are default models. For the Goose and the Maule, all that I have in the panel folders are the cabinets. There are no background textures or configuration files. With the compression method used on the CD's, I don't see any way of restoring those files without doing a reinstallation. Is there any other way of doing this?

I have lost both those planes at separate times. I haven't figured out why or how. It MAY be due to installing other aircraft but I don't really know.
The simple solution was to just do a repair and get the A/C back but I sure would like to know what made them go away in the first place.

If you have only the "Standard" and not the "Deluxe" edition of FSX, you won't have the files for the Maule or Goose...

Thank you for the responses. I do only have the standard version. I thought that I had these planes in my menu but I was obviously mistaken. I am glad there are no ghosts in my PC. I probably can't say the same thing about my memory!!!
