View Full Version : A dilemma on land textures

I am designing a more accurate version of EGHH (Bournemouth) for FSX. I use SBuilderX and FSX Planner. Some of the landclass around the airport is quite unusual heathland (Image attached) and I can't seem to replicate it. As I see it the options are to use photoreal scenery but the only viable source is Google or similar maps and the copyright thing worries me. Another alternative is to create a new landclass texture but I've no idea as to how it's done.
I would be grateful for any help that can be offered.
Thanks in advance. :)

You can modify land class textures, of course. They are image files like anything else. I guess an important question is whether you plan to release this revised airport or whether it is for your own personal use

Hi Jon,
If I can make a good enough job I'll release it, that is why I'm concerned about copyrights etc. Most of the airport structure is complete and a few buildings are in place.
If it were for my own use I'd probably just change a couple of existing lc images and use them, or make a photoreal background.:)
I've just installed fsx_kml_100 and FWTools210 and will look at what I can do with them.
Thanks
Tony
