Has any body been able to land on the carrier deck. My Ball does not work. I can be right on the ball but the F18 crashes into the carrier every time. Is there a secret to getting the thing down?

At least in Acceleration, the ball is no use. Not sure about Flight Deck, but just try flying it by the seat of your pants, as slow as you can, and as gently as you can.

Folks,
I'm no longer a good "stick" but I'll offer some advice ...
On a stable approach, the point on the windshield that is not moving is where the aircraft will hit if no changes to flight path are made.
So if the spot between the 2 and 3 wires is rising in the windshield, you're going to be short. If that spot is descending, you're going to be long. Ditto if you're drifting left or right.
So on a perfect approach you will have the airspeed nailed because of constant angle of attack, you will have the glide slope nailed because of the meat ball and your power setting, and you will have the touchdown point nailed because it will be in the center of the windshield and not drifting, just getting closer.
Make small corrections with elevator, make trend corrections with power, and "Bob's your uncle" as the RAF used to say.
Now ... Do as I say, not as I do. :)
I hope this helps,

I just like annoying the LSO in FSX by doing flick rolls just before landing, or suddenly buzzing the tower. He gets really confused then.
Just take it slow, steady, slide it in.

calcajn,
It's not an aiming thing. It's simply that as the scenery comes at you it will be streaming by you on the left and right and above you and below you. In the center of that stream is the spot that isn't moving, and that's the spot where the flightpath will intersect the deck.

As, I've said in the FS-1-on-1 forum, I'm doing a video on landing on a carrier... Not flight deck I'm afraid but you should get the idea. Watch this space later in the week.
