Huntsville, AL (AP)- Local Airline Rocket Air Virtual today has announced the commencement of service to the Caribbean. The company is using its newest addition to its Embraer Regional Jet 170. The service includes daily flights to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, and Cozumel in Mexico.
The Airline has sold about half of the seats on each flight for the next month through charters with local businesses and travel agencies. It is expected that an additional 25-30% of the seats will be sold through the airline from Residents of Huntsville and connecting flights from Rocket Air’s route structure.
There are questions about the airline’s move to use the small ERJ 170 on the longer routes. Rocket Air Virtual’s Chief Operating Officer, Matt Reichelderfer, explained with this, “We understand that the airframe we are currently using is not optimal for longer haul flights. However, we are currently working with airlines to lease a larger aircraft in the near future. At that time we will evaluate the possibility of placing this larger aircraft on the route.”
Pilot’s interested in joining a dynamic, and ever changing Virtual Airline may join at Rocket Air Virtual's Website (http://www.rocketairvirtual.com) Rocket Air Virtual is currently running a recruitment blitz. Any pilot that joins right now will receive a sign on bonus of 1000 vDollars. Additionally pilots with previous Virtual Airline experience will receive 115% of any hours that they claim from the previous VA.
