Don't know what forum to post this on: IF you are going to order something from an OnLine vendor...and you have a choice....whether to order by PHONE with your Credit Card, OR 0rder OnLine by entering your Credit Card number on their website...Which is MORE secure.....and WHY? SPOFF

website is more secure.
Less chance that a human will write down your card number and use it to make his own purchases (or sell it to someone to make fake cards).

I second jwenting.
Most eCommerce systems are so secure that it is only with the greatest of difficulty that a human can recover the card number used in a given transaction, and it may not be possible at all.
That's why you need to review your online orders in every detail. Once you commit an order the charge WILL go through, and it would be nearly impossible to get the charge reversed out, so this isn't usually permitted by vendors.
And don't get impatient and commit the order twice -- this usually will result in your being charged twice.

On the other hand, I don't hesitate to place a phone order with a vendor I trust like the FlightSim.com Pilot Shop, if I need some kind of special hand-holding in placing the order.

Thanks guys. That's pretty much what I thought, but always wondered. I've never ordered on line up t'll now. I seems logical that the vendor would never SEE your entire card number.... probably only the last 4 digits. On the other hand, on the phone you are dictating the entire number to a human.
I wanted something from NewEgg and they DON"T take phone orders..no exceptions. So I guess I'll have to join the 21st century. It looks like it's safer than the "Old Fashioned" way anywho. :) SPOFF
