On startup I get a message that my video card is not working with FSX. Sometimes a restart solves the problem, other times not. My only solution is to re-install the driver, restart the computer and start FSX.
It works every time. But I have to go through this ritual every day from a cold start.
Worse, when SP2 is installed I get a message that I have the wrong driver. If I go through the process above, check to see if FSX works, I can then re-install SP2(I've already uninstalled) and its works fine.
I've checked the driver at "run" dxdiag and everything checks out.
I don't know where to go for help. Is there any forums at RADEON? I haven't found any.

(I've downloaded the driver updates from microsoft)

My guess is that this is a somewhat unique and isolated problem. It might be that something corrupts the driver file, but it always tests out ok.

Any hint or directions to take appreciated!

Great place here --> http://www.rage3d.com/board/index.php

You might need to try different drivers.

Have you tried the driver installation process posted in the hardware forum here? It could be a corrupted driver install.

ATI does have some forums on their site too.

Thanks for both responses above. Excellent resources! I'll get to the cleaning and driver replacement as soon s I can.
MEANWHILE........
I experimented with shutdown while FSX is running and it seems to work. I tried this because the only time I had failure was in the first start after boot. Once I got FSX running it was good until I shut down.
So I'm flying in "temp mode" until implementing the resources you provided.
Thanks,
