Hi all,
I've recently seen a new problem manifest itself.
I recently upgraded motherboard and processor, all other equipment is unchanged from when everything was fine.
The new Motherboard is Asus Striker II Formula, and the new processor is Intel Core2 Duo E8400... All other components are unchanged...
I'm running Vista Home Premium, and an Intel 8800 GTS with the driver that came out right before the holidays (169.25 I think?)
Since the upgrade, at night, some aircraft textures disappear, and some virtual cockpits become invisible.
Has anyone else seen something like this? Only happens at night with the aircraft lights turned on... If the lights are off, everything is fine.

Make sure the bios is using a good current release and that the mobo chipset is up to date.
Otherwise I would try different drivers.

Hmmm I am having the same problem with some recent downloaded aircraft, I haven't noticed if it was only at night but I am going to load one up and try it right now...we will see, the only difference was that I did try it with VC off and still nothing.

Well, it turned out some of my night textures were messed up, so I fresh installed and everything is fine now.
Recently however I have noticed a different issue.. Sometimes (almost exclusively when flying the EH101) the screens on the panel glitch out and very shortly after that my video crashes. I think the whole system goes unstable, but it might just be vid.
I didn't find any related message in my windows app logs.
This is under vista home premium 32 bit
Nvidia 8800GTS (171.20 but problem was also in 169.25)
4gb Corsair 800mhz
Intel E8400

Ok, this is an old post, but I'm bringing it back to life because I solved this problem and if anyone else has a similar problem they might like to know.
*** This is with regard to the problem with the Panel Glitch and system crash that I posted above on March 1st... ***
As it turns out, my motherboard supports both PCI-E 1 and PCI-E 2.0. Onboard it has 2 of the 2.0 slots, and it has 1 of the v1 slots.
I moved my 8800 from the 2.0 slot (8800 is supposed to be 2.0 compatible) and placed it into the 1.0 slot and PRESTO, everything is fine again.
I have seen numerous posts on the internet with regard to 8800's and problems with the 2.0 standard, and a lot of frustration with Nvidia on this matter.
So, if you get a similar bug, and your board has an option for you to try it... Consider stepping back to 1.0 PCI-E
The performance change was insignificant... about 4 fps in FSX and about a 100 point drop in 3dMark06.

That's very interesting. I didn't realize nVidia was still having those kind of problems with their chipsets. Are you running the latest BIOS? That's essential with any new chipset.

Yes, everything is current... In fact its been a week of flashing this and that trying to work out this problem.
I actually think its not so much about the chipset and perhaps its a problem with the vid card.
