Hello,

Can anyone help me out here. I just purchased a high-end NVidia Ti video card
and I'm experiencing a phenominon in FS2k.....Night Sky Lights. It seems that
when I'm at ground level at any airport, the runway lights are reflected in the

night sky. I understand that this is present in FS2k2 also.

I've heard about this before, but with my previous card, I've not had this
problem. I understand that there has been some discussion about this in the
past, but searching the FS2k forum is almost useless since I don't know what
combination of words to search for in the subject line to find any entries. A
flightsimmer friend of mine has told me that he thinks that there was a "fix"
for this glitch posted somewhere within the Flightsim Forum or within the
flightsim.com file library. I've not been able to find it using the wording
I've tried.

Has anyone out there experienced this problem? Perhaps you may have read about

any discussions in the FS2k forum. If so, I would really appreciate a pointer
so that I may read them also.

If you have a comment and can help, I would appreciate it if you could e-mail
me direct:

Thanks in advance for your assistance.

------------------------------------------------------------------------->First
I added Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky (KCVG)scenery that was from

FS98 using some instructions. I read about "floating runways" but what I get is

copies of all groung lights-runway,taxi, etc. in the sky. You can't catch them.

Got rid of that scenery and added FS2000 scenery for same airport. Same
problem. Also added Ronald Reagan (KDCA) for FS2000. Also lights in the sky.
Computer is PII 450/384 Mb ram/10 Gb drive/ATI Rage Fury video. Thanks in
advance for any assistance.

This is a problem peculiar to only ATI Cards.

There is a g3d.dll file in your Fs2000/module folder in your original CD and
that was replaced by another g3d.dll file in the patch.

If you use the original g3d.dll file you will not have the floating lights but
you will not have SHADOWS either.

If you have the patch installed, then the new g3d.dll is there and with that
you have the SHADOWS activated but side effects for ATI card holders are the
floating Lights.

I got them both saved at some other folder.

when I fly by night , I use the Old g3d.dll with no shadows since who needs
shadows at night ;-)

During day, I use the patch version of the g3d.dll, so that I have the Shadows
and close my eyes till I get above 1000ft or so and out of the floating taxi
lights.
