Hi all,
I tried to install MS-CFS into my J: drive which has 1.7 Gig free (that's
Gig not megs) but the install program keep telling me that I need 234 megs free
in my C: drive.
Is anyone else having this trouble? Does MS-CFS really need 234 megs of
free space in C: drive to install? Unfortunately, my C: is rather small so
there's no way I could make 234 megs of free space in there. Please help.
Davelister, I did a custom install to my D: drive and had no problems. Not
sure what to say or how I can help. Just responding. My C: drive is small
(now) also.

Thanks for this thread, gents. I haven't installed MSCFS yet but I hope
Microsoft hasn't pulled the old "C:Drive Only Trick" on us like they did with
MSWord (that's why I *still* use WordPerfect). I guess this thread begs the
question: Is MSCFS a C:Drive Only program? Bill I.
no I installed it on my "d" drive

Thanks for the advice on this; CFS installed and runs well from my D: Drive
where I have 2 Gig. My impressions of the program are very positive: install
went off without a hitch; frame rate and graphics are good; the game is very
interesting and fun to play. I wonder why it runs in a minimized window? Each
time I start a game I have to Maximize the window. Hmmm.? Bill I.

Dave,
According to the docs I remember that CFS needs about 30 meg on the C: drive
for swap files no matter WHERE you installed the sim. Try installing it again
to J:\CFS (you'll have to type all that yourself). If you've done that
already and it didn't work then try moving some data from C to J. If C really
IS that small (ie 500 meg or so) you would do better scrapping that drive and
installing all your stuff to the 1.5 gig. You will lose some space but your
overall performance should increase as the older HDrives have much slower
access rates and tend to bog down any system to which they are attatched.

Your swap file or your temp file is trying to use that 234 megs to load the
game. With to little freespace you will not get it to load at all. Try freeing
up some space by reinstalling programs to another drive.
