You can diable the startup video. (read the readme file)
Anybody know how to disable the startup program portion that requires you to
insert the CD Rom? If one does a full install, the rom should'nt be needed.
You CAN'T disable the startup program. The CD Rom must be in the CD drive to
run CFS. This is a copyright-protection feature installed by Microsoft to CFS.

You have GOT to be kidding. With all this cool technology and HUGE hard drives
for next to nothing, M$ expects me to keep my CD handy to stick into my drive
because they are paranoid that they didn't get their #@%$ money? I have a
shelf full of flight sim boxes, ALL OF WHICH I PAID FOR, and I don't like to
have to keep a CD out just because Bill G. is paranoid he didn't get a few
dollars to help pay the electricity bill on his 50+ million dollar home. This
is absolutely amazing. Maybe the CD will just stay in the box and gather dust.
There. I feel much better now. I just had to say that. We will now return
to normal programming...

Mike, CFS accesses the CD-ROM at various times when running so kind of needs
to be available. I think this is something we're going to have to get used
to as this software gets more complex. There is so darned much data that
a complete install to the hard drive is just getting too bulky. A good
example is the NorthWest Mega Scenery I just installed: A full install to
avoid the requirement for having the CD-ROM available takes up just over
.7 gig of HD space. Even with a 25 gig HD about to hit the streets, that's
getting kind of impractical. I really doubt that MS's primary concern was
piracy although it would have been nice if we'd had the option of running
CFS in a reduced feature mode without the need for the CD-ROM in the drive.
