The install process was extremly long then seems to hang forever when
it try's to load D3D 6.0, I then have to close down the install process
manually. Originally I was thinking it was a D3D 6.0 problem because
the SIM will start with terrible graphics/framrate and also have seen
some problems with graphics on other already installed sims, however
it looks like I may have a bad CD????.
I have an AMD K6/2 300 with the NOW 3D feature that D3D 6.0 was
to take advantage of. Also have a VDOO2 12 Meg card. Needless to
say I'm disappointed.
1-Has anyone seen similar install and graphics problem with this same
CPU or any other for that matter.
2-Has anyone had any luck installing D3D 6.0 and has seen any
performance enhancement using their AMD K6/2 CPU's?
I also had install problems with the game, and went through 2 CD's thinking I
had bad stuff. Well the culprit ended up being my CD Rom. I had an 8 speed CD
Rom, and it would'nt spin fast enough to load the entire program. So, you may
want to upgrade your CD Rom. I have a 32 speed now, anmd have no problems. Good
luck
