Hi!!

I am just wondering why there is still an
FS4 message base here, and who uses it (besides me, for this one lonely post)
to do anything productive?

Why not FS4?? It's not everybody that can afford the machine to run FS2000,
even 98... many of us are still using 486 and even older machines... To all of
us, FS4 is almost the only solution.. As you told.. FS5 don't have a lot of
add-ons and even on a 486/66, I'm only getting low FPS. So FS4 IS the Flight
sim we us...

Now that I have an Athlon 650, I use FS98 of course... and sometimes only
FS2000. But you can be sure that FS from 2 to 2000 are still installed on it...
and the sim I still use more often FS4 than any other. Long time ago, I made
number of airports around my province and I just don't want to make them again
under the new FS.. it's why I still use it.. even on my beast ;-)

So that's why there's a FS4 forum and maybe it's not used as much as FS98 or
FS2000 ones, but at least, there's a couple of person still interested in it.
It's about our last place we can still talk together, so it would be great if
it could stay on-line for a long time again...

I was wondering where fsfw95 came in? I thought by now that everybody would
have some p75 or higher and that fsfw95 would be the perfect app for that
entry-level Pentium platform. Personally, I ran (but since uninstalled) a copy
of fs98 on my P166mmx, a very decent machine that offered decent fps
performance. If i had a 3dfx card (which I'm in the process of getting),
peformance would be even better. The issue ofcourse is how many still have a
machine as lowbrow as mine. Strangely, with the PC one of the killer
commodities of the age, nobody seems to be tracking the sophistication of the
machines in circulation - manufactuerers just keep coming out with newer
systems. So I don't see how fs4 can remain so popular. It's a good program
offering smooth performance but its add-on planes aren't very convincing, its
scenery is flat and uninviting and, unless you've got SGA, its sound can put
you to sleep.
