Hi, everybody

I just got SGA add-on for FS4 and I read before that with this (and a SB sound
card) I should be able to hear radio communication, instead of reading it at
the bottom of the screen. Is that right? For now, I don't see any change at
all! By the way, does anyone have the BLASTER.SND file for ATP (Sound Blaster
card driver), it didn't came with my version!

It's;completely possible with a 386 or higher microprocessor or
the right amount of extended memory to hear the spoken ATIS. The
key to success is to have your sound card sub-directory in your PATH=
statement, and use the batch files on the SGA add-on disk to start
FS4. Make sure you have the option turned on in the Sound Control
choice off the MODE menu, IIRC the options are Scrolled Text, Sound,
and Both.

What is SGA? What does it offer for FS4?

SGA is Mallard/BAO's Sound and Graphics UpgrAde for FS4 PC. It basic
-ally gives you several extended VGA drivers, .VOC voice files to
replace the original engine sound (as well as gear up, gear down,
stall, and others. It also includes a special set of files by
Creative Labs Inc (maker of the Soundblaster Cards) which enables a
computer with either extended/expanded memory or a 386 and higher CPU
to speak the ATIS and COM messages over the speaker instead of
scrolling along the bottom of the window. It supports several sound
cards and up to five sets of voice files so the user can add their
own library of aircraft sounds. (I have a special setup where I can
do all my voice files in two sets, saving disk space!)
Anything I missed! :-)
