My first FS was version II, but it's so long ago I don't remember the name of
the company that produced it. It was before the days that Microsoft made any
Flight Simulators, around 1983 or so. It did have something to do with Bruce
Artwick though, and the default starting airport was Meigs Field. But that's
back in the days when all the scenery was made out of sticks. I still have
FS5.0 around somewhere, but it doesn't work too well with my video card. You
can't expand the screen to any more than 640*480. I also used FS5.1 in days
following, but it's the same story with the video card. I never had FS95, since
I heard it wasn't much of an upgrade from FS5.1. Ever since then I've been
using FS98. I've put so much work into it that I don't want to upgrade to
anything else. But of course it likely won't run on future computers with
future video cards either. That's my story.

Thanks for the response dave
I too..Had fs 2 or 3 by bao on a apple 2c for my first sim...boy that was
along time ago I think 1983 could be wrong..
I have fs4,0 but havnt ran that in about 5 years...I never was impressed
with it on a(8088)it ran to slow or when the 486 came into its own it ran to
fast..jumpy ,,jittery,,,
had 5 then 5.1 and with an old rig 5.1 is a fun toy...got hooked on simming
then..
I agree fs98 seems to be the best to play with for add ons..kinda flying
in a comic book world and has great frame rates...all the fs 5 stuff
converts to it..a great platform for editing files and panels..
I like fs2000 on a xp rig it runs great...as for fs2002 i like it on a fast rig
and besides its awful night effects it does run real smooth as for fs2004
its very buggy depending on you rig and video card..the clouds look great
but when your taxing around on the ground its cramped in depth..
plus its nit a joy for add on ands compatibility..It hates Banshee voodoo
3 d cards...im passing on fs2006
