Hello again !!!
I'm running Fs 5.1 and have 24 megs of RAM . How come when I put the line
..... SMARTDRV.EXE 4096 ....... I end up with less than 540 convetional
memory ?
When I put in 2048, I get 542 of convetional memory. Shouldn't I be able
to reserve at least 4 or more megs for EMS without problems?
Maybe somebody knows what the problem is.
Thanks for your help
Tim
hi Tim. you cannot get more conventional memory. If you could then anybody in
the world could get the same thing. Conventional memory is used to run
programs and that is all it does. the file SMARTDRV.exe uses conventional
memory to use it so i would just leave the ending at /x. Like "c:\smartdrv.exe
/x" (no quotes). if you want to make some EMS, use the program emm386.exe
which is found in the dos and windows directory. example :
[device="c:\dos\emm386.exe 4096] and it will make 4 megs of EMS memory.
If you still need some help in putting the right line into the autoexec.bat
file, just post a message and i will tell you what to put.
